ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
Each and every graduate in the 1990-1991 class has achieved academic success. A number of students, however, went beyond success and achieved academic excellence.		These students achievements have appropriately been recognized over the past three years by a number of awards. To each and every one of you congratulations from your fellow classmates.

Gold Medalist		Raymond G. Herbert Award
Averaged over the last three years, the top student is awarded the Law Society Gold Medal. This year that student is Lindsay Batten. Before arriving at law school, Lindsay had earned a B.A. in History with distinction at U of Vic. At our law school she went on to distinguish herself and receive over 18 scholarships and prizes. This includes the Faskin, Campbell,	Godfrey Judges’ Discretionary Prize for individual excellence in the 1990 Gale Moot. She has also been actively involved in West Coast LEAF, C.B.A., co-writing an article for the Advocate and Les Advocats du Vin. In the immediate future she plans on clerking at the S.C.C. before articling in Vancouver.	Is presented on the basis of academic achievement, athletic involvement, outstanding character, and the ability to serve, work with, and to lead others. Simon Cridland without a doubt reflects the character of this award. Maintaining a top quartile academic standing, he was actively involved in F.C.S.C. Faculty-Student Liaison	Committee, the L.S.L.A.P., Examinations Committee, law league hockey and intra mural volleyball. Outside of the law school he was a news and sportscaster at CITR, U.B.C. Radio, and a member of International Relations Students’ Association and the Royal Commonwealth Society.
