University of British Columbia Law Class of 1991

Environmental LAw Club

Clean air, land and water are increasingly being seen as legal issues.  For eco activists and corporate defenders environmental law will be the central focus of the 90s.

The focus of the club varies each year in accordance to our members interests.

Some of the issues we have been concerned with includes: joint and several liability in oil and hazardous waste, draft net fishing, protection of public interest values in non-renewable resources, marine and wildlife protection and native rights.

To bring increased awareness on campus on some of these issues we helped organize and participate in the "Public Law Seminar".  A first for UBC.

At the law school we have encouraged the three R's.  Our recycling efforts in particular have been met with success.  Paper and aluminum cans are now collected at the law school for recycling.
