The Legal Brief: The Class of '91

Concluding Facts: Each of us came to law school with our own ideas of what a legal education would entail and provide us with.  UBC to its credit, seemed to embrace a wide diversity of student expectations and wishes.  Basically, you got what you put into it.  If you wanted half-hour exams, you could take a class with a half-hour exam.  All corporate, all criminal, yes you could structure your program either way.  Those of us who put a lot into our educations got a lot back (despite what mark we may have received).  Those of us who preferred to fit law school around our lives, did, many quite successfully I might add.

As our memories of law school fade over time we will forget the anxiety attacks, the nightmares we used to have of missing one of our exams or having to write an exam for a class we never prepared for.  Instead, we will remember the people we met and called our classmates and friends.

Had any of us chosen to attend a different law school our last three years would not have been the same.  We will also remember the "law" that emerged during this period.  Cases like: Morgentaler, Daigle, Sullivan v. Lemay, Sparrow, Gitzan, Keegstra, Irwin Toys, Lavallee, Seaboyer, Herbert and others.  Certainly, the emerging law itself has provided a lot to our three years at UBC.
